Hi! My name is Dr. Darrin M. Hanson, but please just call me Darrin. For five years I was an assistant professor at a small college in New Orleans. I moved to Wisconsin to support my new wife in her career.
My thoughts on education are both academic and experiential. Academically, one of my areas of research is in education policy. Experientially, besides college-level teaching, I have also volunteered for years working with disadvantaged students.
In all this I am sort of an idealistic realist. I view education as potentially the great equalizer, but the potential is far from being realized. We have so much work to do in public education, private education, higher education, and even home-based education. These are the issues about which I am passionate and about which I choose to write.
