Hire Me

I suppose I am somewhat of an unorthodox education consultant.  Most education consultants I encounter were former teachers and/or administrators or they come from a business background.  My formal teaching experience is strictly at the college level.  Several years ago I did some consulting for several non-profits, but I definitely do not have a business background.

So, why should you hire me for your education consulting needs?  Here are a few reasons:
  1. I am both passionate about education and a truly objective observer.  You can't find that combination very often.
  2. I don't have an agenda.  I want to find what works best for your situation.  I'm not trying to thrust my position into your situation.
  3. I understand the real academic research on education.  I don't fall for the latest fad or the over-simplified summaries of bad research.  I can actually read and evaluate the good research and I can present it to you in a way that you will understand.
  4. I have experience working with all age levels, from Pre-K through graduate school.
  5. I'm going to tell it to you like it is.  I won't sugar coat anything that I see is wrong.
  6. I won't just find what's wrong, but I'll also work with you to figure out what can make it right.
  7. I am very good at evaluating institutions from a big-picture perspective and analyzing it in that way.  I view consulting as putting together a large puzzle.  I look for the missing pieces and help you figure out what should go where.
  8. I am actually trained in how to do interviews and surveys.  Most surveys and interviews lead to biased results.  I know how to remove most of the bias.
What, you might ask, are my services?  Well, I don't think this is an exhaustive list, but here are some areas in which I could help you:
  1. External reviews of programs or departments.
  2. Evaluate curriculum.
  3. Evaluate organizational structures and systems.
  4. Figure out why some students are slipping through the cracks.
  5. Observe and evaluate teaching.

As you might guess from the lack of thrilled client reviews, I am new to the consulting game.  I need to get myself some thrilled clients.  For that to happen I need to get myself some clients.  So, here's my proposed deal for you.  If you think I could help you or your organization, I will offer you my services for free.  That's right--free.  Okay, there are some catches.
  1. I would need you to pay for expenses.  You know, basic stuff like photocopying and the like.
  2. You would need to be within reasonable driving distance from Madison, WI.  If I'm not getting paid, I don't really have the ability to travel far.
  3. If you are happy with my services, I need you to say so publicly on my website and serve as a reference for future potential (paying) clients.
If this sounds like a good deal to you, please email me at educationmatters4you@gmail.com.  Thanks!

If you live in the Madison area and are interested in some private tutoring, I also co-founded a small tutoring business with my wife called Madison Learns.
